Are you looking to get a new credit card that will give you the points you need to start chasing your travel dreams? It is both overwhelming and exciting, but I am here to help ease your stress and help you align with the card that is best for YOU.
I have compiled a list of my top travel credit cards to choose from for March 2023.
Something to always remember is that as time goes on, my card preferences change based on the benefits and deals that the credit card companies have going on. It is also worth it to note that I will always provide you all with the best deals regardless if they have affiliate links or not.
With that being said, let’s dive in.
When you are deciding on a card, you want to consider what you are going to get out of it, especially in regards to travel. You can choose a card that is best for airline miles, hotel stays, and in some cases gaining a companion pass to travel with your friends or family.
In this blog we are going to cover my TOP 5 recommendations for the month of March.
(Notice: When you hover over the card you will be able to click the card and it will redirect you to learn more about each card. This way you can take advantage of the card that best suits YOU!)
1. The Best Overall Travel Card
Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
The Chase Sapphire Preferred is my personal favorite card for overall access to travel and combining points and transfer to airlines and hotels.
This is a foundational card that gives you access to the Chase Travel portal and access to countless hotel/airline transfer partners.
On top of that, you earn:
- 5x points on travel booked through the portal
- 3x points on dining
- 2x points on all other travel
- 1x points on all other purchases
You also earn other perks like travel insurance, trip delay insurance, rental car insurance, and no foreign transaction fees!
2. Best Business Card
Chase Ink Business Cash®
UPDATE: this offer is now over
This card is a blessing in disguise. Marketed as a “cash back” card, the Chase Ink allows you to combine points and transfer them to other hotels and airlines. This month there is a current promotion of 90k bonus miles, making it a top pick for March 2023. You must spend $6,000 in 3 months to receive the bonus.
It also has some great multipliers like 5x points at office stores and internet, home, and cable bills. You also earn 2x at gas stations and restaurants. The best part, NO annual fee. It is also worth noting that this is technically a cash back card, but if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, you are able to use the “cash back” as points.
3. Alaska Airlines Visa Credit Card
This is where we are going to talk about companion passes and the benefit of them will leave you cheering from mountain tops. Essentially a companion pass is where you are allowed to bring a guest on any flight of your choice, they just have to pay taxes and fees. For my frequent fliers with a significant other or someone you travel with often, this is for YOU.
The Alaska Airlines Visa Credit Card is running a current promotion where you can earn 70,000 bonus miles and you can gain a companion fare for Alaska Air flights. That is NOT all. You also earn free checked bags and priority boarding.
With this card you are simplifying travel and it has never been easier to make memories and get from one place to another.
4. The Best Hotel Card
IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card
This is the IHG Premiere Personal card and is for my friends who love a good hotel deal. With this IHG Card, you earn 175,000 points after spending $3,000 in 3 months.
With this card, you earn:
- Earn up to 26X total points at IHG® Hotels & Resorts when you combine your IHG® Rewards Premier Card benefits with your existing IHG® Rewards member benefits.
- 10X points at IHG® Hotels & Resorts with the IHG® Rewards Premier Credit Card Up to
- 5X points on travel, dining and at gas stations
- 3X points on all other purchases
You also get every 4th night free. The sign up bonus is equivalent to about 40 nights of free stays!
5. Best Companion Pass
Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Credit Card (and other personal cards)
UPDATE: this offer is now over
Everyone loves Southwest Airlines. At this point, that is a given. With great customer service, reasonably priced flights, and free bags…you can’t beat it!
There is a longer way to earn the infamous Southwest Companion Pass, but right now, Southwest is offering the companion pass with the welcome bonus on each of the Southwest personal cards.
Here they are:
- Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Priority Card
- Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Premier Credit Card
- Chase Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Plus Card
Once you hit the minimum spend, you will then receive a companion pass that is valid until 2024. This offer expires March 13, 2023.
